Transition Radio Industries September 2012

Tygh Lawrence-Clarke is 51 and started his transition less than a year ago. Although he never felt right in his own skin, he was so distracted by the severe abuse he received while growing up, that he was not able to deal with issues related to his gender identity. He then lived his adult life believing that he was a lesbian, and that this explained all of his identity issues. It wasn’t until last year, when his wife, who is a psychologist, mentioned transgender clients, that he realized his true self.

He retired from his career in Pharmacy 5 years ago in order to focus on taking care of his family, including his wife Sandi, son Ben, and his many pets. Although Tygh was late in coming out, he has lost no time in immersing himself into the trans community. Because he found youtube videos of others’ transitions so helpful, he has been documenting his own transition on his youtube channel, hoping he can pay it forward to those just starting their journey. In addition, he participates in a weekly collab video that talks about transgender issues and is involved in a non-profit organization devoted to supporting transgender individuals called 41Percent. Tygh hopes to use his life experiences to help others.
