Steven Shulman was born November 1952 in Los Angeles, CA. When Steven was five years old, his mother Beverly, escaping from Steven’s father’s compulsive gambling addiction, took Steven and his sister Susan, and moved to Miami Beach to live with his maternal grandparents and great aunt. They lived in a cramped three bedroom house with no air conditioning, and hot tempers flaring. Steven disliked his new residence and having to make new friends. His mother became a recluse, locking herself in her bedroom after work with a bucket of ice and a bottle of J&B whisky. Steven’s rebellious behavior and decadent future lifestyle began to take shape.

Steven grew up as a “throwaway kid”. Bullied at school and teased for what he didn’t have, his clothes were hand-me-downs, transportation was a used bicycle, and after school jobs left no time to socialize, meet girls, or hang out. Loneliness, boredom, rejection and anger set in. At age 13, he found the solution to all his problems: Drugs! Marijuana and pills killed the pain of rejection and isolation, and life took on a whole new perspective.

Steven has achieved financial success as an independent insurance broker and real estate investor. He’s a tireless human rights and animal welfare activist. His passion for music and rock and roll still live on. Whenever there’s a need to help someone suffering from addiction, Steven’s always available with a helping hand or sympathetic ear.

Steven is the author of the forthcoming memoir “My Uncle Gloria”.
