Bishop Makalani-MaHee was the youngest commissioned Pastor in Unity Fellowship Church history. he is also the Founder/CEO for Black Gay Pride South Florida.
The Bishop has had a long and successful career in the arts as a classically-trained actor, dancer, and singer in musical theater, starring in such musicals as "Grease" and in productions for Ujamma Black Theater. Bishop has taught theater classes and courses as well as lectured for Georgia State University, Soapstone Center for the Performing Arts and Spelman and Morehouse Colleges. He also founded a youth theater troupe called Heart Theater, which performed its inaugural piece "Journeys," an HIV/AIDS educational play conceived and directed by The Bishop.
The Bishop has been combining African percussion with spoken word poetry, old-school-down-home-preachifying and a Certain musical theater something since being introduced to the djembe by Sophie B. Hawkins in 1989 making hand drumming a way of life.
The Bishop is currently enjoying devolping a show and book (Bustin' Hell Wide Open) in which explores experiences growing up in the Pentecostal Black Church, the projects of the Bronx, coming out in those environments, and transtioning
