Transition Radio Industries September 2012
Paola J Gonzalez identifies as a trans woman. I wanted to bring someone on the show that would be civil enough to have a conversation regarding having Cathy Brennan on the show and talk about all the back lash we received due to the interview. She quotes although I do not necessary agree with some of the things Cathy said, there are some areas of things she said that I do agree with. I think setting boundaries are ok, and it should be respected. If they want to have an event only for women (without Tran’s women) is ok by me. Also, I agree with her when she said that lesbians have no interested in dating a trans woman, totally agree with her as lesbians do not like the male parts that some trans women have and is ok for lesbians women to say that and set that boundary of not wanting to date trans women.

I also think there are more motives to transition than just the two she presented during the interview. At the same time as a trans woman I am not a man, neither I consider myself a man; that is basically attaching behaviors and attitudes to me or any trans woman based on my genitalia that I may or may not exhibit. Yes I am a Tran’s woman, and yes I was born male, I got no problem admitting that, I will never be fully female because, I was born male. It does not bother me when she said that "trans women are not females". Yet at this point I do not think am not fully a male due to physical changes induced by hormones in my body. I do disagree when she said we transitioned because of a fetish as what she said in the opening video of the show.

Paula was born in Puerto Rico but I moved to Albany, in 2004 to pursue Ph.D. Studies in Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and because she needed to find a place where I feel comfortable to be able to transition. Along the way I ended up getting involved in community theater since 2006 working as an actor/actress and as a fight choreographer. I am also a local juggler/whip artist. And currently I work full time in manufacturing. I have finished two associates one in Theater Arts and one in Business Administration and Accounting at Hudson Valley community College. I also have been involved in local activism pro-transgender rights. I have done speak out at local churches (Although I am an atheist) and I also have participated on local news articles talking about the GENDA bill in NYS.
