Lianne Simon is the author of Confessions of a Teenage Hermaphrodite, a deeply emotional tale of growing up with a sexually ambiguous body. Born with a rare genetic disorder, Lianne struggled to survive infancy. The same intersex condition that made her tiny and frail as a child, and that gave her a pixie face and a timid disposition, also kept her from becoming the man her parents expected. Faced with testosterone injections meant to virilize her body, Lianne chose instead to preserve her feminine looks and change her legal status to female. Today, Lianne lives with her husband and their cats in the suburbs north of Atlanta.
